The second tribe to invest in Pennsylvania was the Poarch Creek Indian Tribe of Alabama. the tribe purchased the property January 25, 2005. It owns and operates the Mohegan Pennsylvania, a casino and racetrack located outside Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
The first tribe to invest in Pennsyslvania was the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut. Both are licensed and regulated by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board as commercial gaming operations. However there are two Native American tribes that own and operate gambling facilities in the state. There are no Indian casinos, Indian bingo halls or Indian gaming in Pennsylvania.
